Vamp Up Vets – The Food Truck & Family Festival
Vamp Up Vets, a fundraising committee co-chaired by Laura Wagner and Linda Rodriguez, aims to add key improvements to Veterans Memorial Park in Denville, NJ. These improvements have included ADA-compliant bleachers, a digital scoreboard and a press box with a sound system, with a total fundraising goal of $190,000 They have raised approximately $114,000 so far, and their goal is to fundraise this great project from donations rather than increase the local tax burden.
The Vamp Up Vets Field Committee started with a few Denville parents brainstorming how taller ADA-compliant bleachers would afford spectators the priceless view of the kids’ great play, rather than the backs of the sideline coaches. They also realized that a scoreboard would help keep everyone informed, and a press box with a sound system would be safer than announcers perched atop a scaffold with a handheld speaker and microphone. The bleachers and press box were recently installed.
“We want all the sports teams who use this field to come together and help make it better. We want this to be a spectator and fan-friendly place where games are fun to play and watch,” Rodriguez said.
These remaining additions will cost approximately $76,000. While this may sound like a lot, Vamp Up Vets is well on the way to reaching their goal, thanks to the donations of Denville residents, local sports teams, and numerous sponsors.
Several exciting fundraisings are planned. The next upcoming event is The Food Truck & Family Festival on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019. The Event Sponsor is GYMGUYZ of Greater Morris County.
Enjoy a nice fall day outside with delicious food from over 20 specialty vendors. Indulge with some fine craft beer, all provided by Denville’s own Fort Nonsense Brewery. There will also be wine, live bands, lawn games, and a vendor market. Kids enjoy unlimited access to over 10 huge inflatables, wristband purchase required. In addition, there’s a free dance party, face-painting and tattoos, pay-to-play laser tag, a petting zoo, and pony rides.
“We add a little something new every year. Our goal is always to fundraise but to also have a fun community event that everyone in town can find something they can enjoy,” Wagner said.
The support of the community is key. You can help them reach their fundraising goal by having your business sponsor an event or donating directly to the cause. We also value your family’s attendance at our fundraising events in the community.
If you would like to not only support the cause but Honor a Vet, consider purchasing a plaque that will be displayed at the field. They are beautiful! Check them out at http://denvilleplays.com/vampupvets/honor-a-vet-project/
