On November 6, 2019, Mario Di Sanza achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout at a ceremony at the Denville American Legion. The 16-year-old renovated the entire second floor (meeting hall and kitchen) of the American Legion building as his service project. Mario initiated this project himself and worked tirelessly, including spending over 450 hours researching, fund-raising, and doing construction work all on his own.
Mario’s parents, Robert and Michele Di Sanza, were in attendance and said they were very proud of their son. “We couldn’t be more pleased,” said Mario’s mother, Michele. “Mario has worked hard for this,” she said.
Also in attendance were American Legion Post 390 Commander John Ferrone, and Mario’s Trail to Eagle Advisor Bern Macones, who presented Mario with a Citation of Appreciation.
