McIntosh, a key figure in the development of the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad. The couple was married in Morristown, a place that remained significant in her life. Marriage
After a brief courtship in 1858, she wed Millard Fillmore in Albany, New York. Their marriage was governed by a prenuptial agreement that granted Fillmore complete financial control over her estate. Despite her wealth, Caroline’s later years were marked by personal struggles, particularly after Fillmore’s death in 1874. She spent her final years in declining health and passed away on August 11, 1881, in Buffalo, New York, where she was laid to rest alongside her husband.
