What does The Arc of Essex County do?

The Arc of Essex County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as autism and Down syndrome, and their families. Its event page describes help at every age: early steps for young kids, the move from school into adult life, and care for seniors.

The West Essex Tribune reported that the agency serves more than 1,500 children and adults in New Jersey. Its office is in Livingston, and the phone number is 973-535-1181.

The Arc of Essex County is one of several county chapters of The Arc in New Jersey. Readers in Morristown may know ArcMorris, which serves Morris County and holds its own fall fundraiser, Walktoberfest. The two are separate chapters.

What was on the tasting tables?

According to The Arc’s recap, restaurants, breweries, wineries, distilleries and non-alcoholic drink makers ran the sampling tables, a mix of returning vendors and first-timers.

The organizer’s preview, posted ahead of the night, listed barbecue, Italian dishes and Ethiopian plates among the food. Desserts on that list included pastries and baked goods, gelato and custom ice cream sandwiches. Drinks covered wine and sangria, craft beer, spirits and cocktails, plus smoothies and juices for anyone skipping alcohol.

The Arc’s recap credits the evening’s live music to Songbird. The full vendor list is posted on UncorkedAndUncapped.com.
